Enhancing Flexibility and Sound Quality: AV System Upgrade at Kings Place with Powersoft
Marquee AV, a UK-based system integrator, upgraded the AV system at Kings Place in King’s Cross, London, using Powersoft’s compact Mezzo amplifiers. The renovation of the Battlebridge Room included column speakers and Mezzo amplifiers, providing high-quality audio while maintaining a discreet, minimalist design. The system offers flexibility for various events, supporting both analogue and digital inputs, power sharing, and advanced DSP. Powersoft’s SRM technology ensures energy efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions. Additional equipment included Q-SYS and Blackmagic Videohub for video management.
The recent AV upgrade at Kings Place, a multifunctional conference and events venue in King’s Cross, London, UK-based system integrator Marquee AV utilized Powersoft’s compact Mezzo amplifier platform for its discreet design and flexible functionality.
Kings Place, situated near landmarks such as the British Library and Bloomsbury Theatre, is a mixed-use development featuring an arts hub, office spaces, event rooms, and dining areas, including a waterfront restaurant. At the heart of the venue is the recently renovated Battlebridge Room, a highly popular space known for its modular layout, natural light, and scenic views over Regent’s Canal.
For the AV system upgrade, Marquee AV, a long-time user of Powersoft amplifiers, designed and installed a solution that seamlessly integrated with the room’s sophisticated and minimalist aesthetic. The setup includes a column speaker system, positioned discreetly at either side of the screens, and Powersoft’s compact Mezzo amplifiers, known for delivering high performance in a space-efficient form factor.
The installation features a Mezzo 602 AD and a Mezzo 322 AD, providing 600W and 320W of output respectively to the Bose Professional system. The AD models also incorporate audio networking via Dante/AES67 and an internal Gigabit Ethernet switch for seamless network integration. Given the Battlebridge Room’s capacity to host up to 400 guests for events ranging from corporate functions to weddings, the new system was designed for maximum flexibility, utilizing Mezzo’s analogue and digital inputs, power-sharing capabilities, and advanced DSP.
Powersoft’s Smart Rail Management (SRM) technology further enhances efficiency by reducing power consumption, lowering operational costs, and minimizing CO2 emissions. Complementing the Powersoft amplifiers and speakers are a Q-SYS TSC-70-G3 touchscreen, a Q-SYS Core 110f v2 processor, and a videohub with a Smart Videohub 12 × 12 SDI matrix for video content management.
Commenting on the installation, Marquee AV’s project director Stacey Tough highlighted the significant improvements in both audio and video distribution. He emphasized Powersoft’s reliability and the Mezzo AD’s compact footprint, diverse input options, and Dante compatibility as key factors in delivering high-quality sound along with remote control and monitoring capabilities for the venue’s upgraded AV system.
