Like many of Roxy’s venues, Roxy Lanes has a complex set-up with numerous areas to cover. This is why Audioserv chose to use AUDAC, Symetrix, and Powersoft products to create a bespoke high performance audio system that provides seamless coverage and gives the client total control.
Roxy Leisure’s latest ten-pin bowling-led bar concept, Roxy Lanes opened in Leeds with a high-performance audio system supplied by a local integrator, Audioserv.
The drinking and bowling site in the iconic Leeds Light has a trendy industrial look. Like many of Roxy’s venues, it has a complex set-up of areas to cover including two bars, ten bowling lanes, pool tables, air hockey, as well as two shuffleboards and curling. Trying to integrate and time align all these areas to provide a consistent experience is a real challenge. Audioserv designed a bespoke system using AUDAC, Symetrix, and Powersoft products sourced from CUK.
Throughout the two-floor building, loudspeakers from AUDAC’s VEXO, BASO, and ATEO ranges have been installed to ensure even, seamless coverage with plenty of power courtesy of Powersoft’s Quattrocanali range of amplifiers. Audio processing and system control are handled by a Symetrix Prism 12×12.
Relish the various activities at Roxy Ballroom with an amazing experience of AUDAC’s audio solutions, a range of VEXO110 10” and VEXO112 12” high-performance 2-way loudspeakers, resulting in an even, seamless coverage with high power and yet very high-fidelity sound production throughout the two-floor building. Thanks to the optional Clever U bracket, the high-power 2-way cabinet can be placed both horizontally and vertically. An optional 70V/100V line transformer also makes it possible to use the VEXO series in 70V or 100V systems.
In addition, 4 BASO15 15” and 2 BASO18 18” compact bass reflex cabinets were also installed to provide a powerful and ultimate experience during your bowling game, delivering the low frequencies. The 10 bowling lanes and the curling area are covered by the VEXO112 12” high-performance 2-way loudspeakers and additional BASO15 15” and BASO18 18” compact bass-reflex cabinets. With the BASO and VEXO series, you can easily switch between enjoyable background music during your dinner and some fiercer beats later in the evening, bringing out your competitive spirit during the games.
2 XENO8 full range speakers 8”, specially designed for fixed audio installations, were installed at Roxy Lanes to cover the stairs area with clear and suiting background music. Thanks to the sleek and elegant design, the XENO8 blends into the trendy and industrial interior.
Lastly, the toilets haven’t been forgotten and were treated to a single ATEO 4 wall speaker with CleverMount™ 4″ in each restroom. The ATEO 4 wall speaker with CleverMount™ 4″ delivers great sound and is easy to install in any way thanks to the CleverMount™ technology, which merges the loudspeaker cabinet with the mounting bracket for a good-looking entity.
All DSP and routing functions are carried out by a Symetrix Inc. Prism 12×12. Pete Rollinson, CEO, Technical Director and Project Manager of Audioserv Ltd., expounds on how much he relies on the sound quality, performance, and ease of installation of Symetrix products. “As we use Symetrix DSPs for most of our audio installations, we are well acquainted with Composer software, so designing a system is relatively easy as long as we have an accurate plan of how the client wants the system to function. All of the Symetrix DSPs that we have used sound excellent and with the Solus and Prism ranges, we can design the audio system how it needs to be, rather than using a fixed architecture system and having to design the venue around the DSP. The system achieved the necessary objectives as initially required. Those being good sound quality, even coverage for the whole venue, and enough SPL for the venue. The Prism 12×12 is networked into the system on its own V Lan, so the client has control of every area as required.”
Pete continued, “The Symetrix Prism with Composer software is a great platform to be able to easily create the systems we need to deploy in a wide range of venues. The Dante networking allows easy expansion of systems should the client require it, using Dante amplifiers or other Dante in/out devices, including adding new inputs after the build has been finished, where getting audio cables would be impossible, but there is a network infrastructure available. As we solely use Symetrix for Roxy, having the same systems in every venue simplifies the complexity of their entire maintenance schedule and simplifies our engineer’s job as they are very familiar with the Prism platform.”
Amplifier power is supplied by 3 Powersoft Quattrocanali 4804 and 2404 amplifiers. The Quattrocanali is a 4-Channel, Class D power amplification platform designed for small- to medium-scale installations where system flexibility is a must. Offering the same reliability and renowned audio quality of all Powersoft amplifier platforms, the Quattrocanali Series operates with both Lo-Z and 70V/100V distributed lines, or any mix of the two.
The Quattrocanali Series also features patented SRM (Smart Rail Management) technology, which recycles the reactive energy coming back from the loudspeakers, helping lower overall power consumption, reducing heat dissipation, and keeping operating costs to a minimum and hence are a good fit for Roxy lanes.
