Situated on the south east corner of the Llŷn Peninsula, the village Abersoch is picturesque seaside town with sandy beaches facing across Cardigan Bay to the west coast of Wales & Snowdonia. Popular bar and restaurant Zinc underwent a refresh for the 2023 summer holiday season including a new audio system designed and installed by Blacka Group.

Before the refurbishment, the audio system consisted of some hifi speakers tucked in to the corners of the restaurant and no audio coverage on what is now the terrace bar.  The new system uses 14 AUDAC WX series loudspeakers distributed throughout the venue as Craig West of Blacka Group explains “We want everyone in a venue to have the same great audio experience and this is achieved by evenly spreading the speakers in the space to give a consistent level throughout. The bracket included with the AUDAC speakers allows for both wall and ceiling mounting which meant less restrictions on placement.”

The WX series loudspeakers are available in an outdoor version with waterproof connectors and corrosion resistant aluminium grille meaning that the same sonic signature could be carried from the indoor spaces through to the outdoor areas.

Blacka have standardised on an electronics package based around Powersoft amplification with Symetrix processing and control and this venue uses that same template. With no room for a dedicated equipment rack, the compact, 1U amplifiers and 1U processor made it easy to locate the equipment safely behind the bar.
